Punzalan, Angela Colmenares and Trixie Concepcion)   Through the facilitation of the Loyola Mountaineers, Earth Island Institute (EII) participated the BALIKASAN (Balik-Kalikasan) event in Ateneo de Manila University which was held last January 24 to 27, 2012.   EII has gathered around 200 signatures from the Ateneo community in its petition campaign to save the 25 wild-caught dolphins from Solomon Islands which are now being trained in Ocean Adventure Park, Subic, and deemed to be re-exported to Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore. This campaign aims to prevent further exploitation and cruelty to said dolphins and enlighten the students about marine wildlife, animal welfare and the ecosystem.   The Balikasan event reminds everyone in the campus that we all have a special role for the conservation, restoration and protection of our environment and motivates us to do each one’s part.   More pictures at…
